Tell us a little about yourself. (where are you from, where did you go to school, what are you studying, and life goals)
I am D’Angelo “DLO” Smith from Lithonia, Georgia and I am the franchise owner of the Grinderz. I attended Valdosta State where I earned my BA in Business Administration in Accounting. I am now a full-time tax preparer, Little League Baseball coach, high school QB coach, and part-time baller. Valdosta is where I started my Flag career and has propelled me to excel on some of the largest platforms in Flag Football.
What inspired you to own your own RFB Pro franchise?
I’ve been following RFB for about 3 years. I immediately became interested in the movement. From the marketing to the athletes, I always knew I could spice the league up and believe in the direction of the league. Not only as a player, but as a franchise owner. RFB is unique and the flag environment is definitely unmatched.
What is your team’s identity and philosophy?
After an EASY Champion season of ProIV, I felt like it was time to step it up a notch and get more involved which is what pushed me into owning my own franchise.
Why do you think your team has a shot at winning a championship?
This season, the Grinderz philosophy will be slightly different and very uptempo. With us being a new franchise to the league, we plan on taking things a day at a time but we expect nothing less than the Pro X Premier.
Who is your team’s rival(s)?
We do not have any rivals, but in the humblest way “ANYBODY CAN GET IT.”
